Poseidon's Garden

Poseidon's Garden, Fine Art
Poseidon's Garden Honorable Mention
The coast encompasses much more than the ocean and sand; it permeates our everyday lives, drawing us into its constant ebbs and flows and bonds us to the natural world around us. The ocean is much more than a landmark for people living in San Diego; it’s a lifestyle. My first exposure to San Diego’s beautiful coastline was at Scripps Pier. I stumbled upon this grove of coastal flowers and agave overlooking the pier and ocean, and was captivated by its serenity and balance. I returned here dozens of times over the course of the next two years, both to take photographs and escape from the stresses of my daily life. After many attempts, I was finally rewarded with this scene; as the sun set over the ocean, golden light reflected off the water and backlit this small garden, framing the pier perfectly. This is a single exposure edited in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to achieve my signature dreamy and painterly style.

Bio
As a landscape photographer, I create breathtaking images not through special techniques or effects, but through discovering an intimate relationship with the natural lands that I stand upon. My photography isn't merely a collection of snapshots from pretty vistas and colorful skies, but a glimpse into my most memorable moments in the field and a reflection of the thousands of hours I spend exploring in the wilderness. You won't find the locations and photographs I capture in any other gallery; at its core, my photography embodies an exposition of nature's lesser told stories and more subtle expressions. In order to discover and photograph these rare locations and displays of light, I spend much of my time planning, hiking, and scouting each shot. I believe the best place to explore is in your own backyard, which is why I almost exclusively photograph within San Diego County. From the mossy beaches of La Jolla to the rolling hills of the Santa Ysabel mountains, I want to share a novel story of our local wilderness with my clients and viewers.

As a self-taught photographer of 7 years, I am always seeking to find new locations and learn new skills to create spectacular visual experiences for my viewers. I have displayed at several galleries in the past, including the Las Lagunas Art Gallery in Laguna Beach, and have received numerous accolades for my work, including being named a semi-finalist for Orange County's artist of the year. I have extensive experience creating fine-art landscape photography prints and strive to create true-to-life representations of the wilderness that will shine on the walls of your home, office, or any other space you can imagine. I hope my images will create a bond between you and the natural places closest to your heart. -Jordan Lee
